What is Starbucks Oleato Caffè Latte?
Starbucks describes the Oleato Caffe Latte as made with “Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast, a light roast that is smooth and subtly sweet, is infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil and steamed with creamy oat milk to create a velvety smooth, deliciously lush latte.”
Equipment You’ll Need
Espresso Machine – I used a Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine to make this latte but any espresso machine will work as well. You can also try these hacks for making an espresso without an espresso maker.
Milk Frother – I also used the Nespresso Aeroccino3 Milk Frother but any milk frother will work or you can froth milk without a frother with these easy methods.
Olive Oil Coffee Ingredients
- Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast: I used the Nespresso Vertuo pods but you can substitute the blonde roast with any medium-bodied espresso. If you have an espresso maker you can also use the Starbucks Blonde Espresso roast whole beans.
- Oatly Barista Edition Oatmilk: This is the exact oatmilk Starbucks uses but feel free to use any oatmilk you prefer. Any dairy or non-dairy milk will work for this latte as well.
- Partanna Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Starbucks states they add a spoonful of EEVO. I used Partanna EVOO where Starbucks uses Partanna Cold-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is not yet available in the U.S. A different brand of high-quality EVOO will work too.

How to Make Olive Oil Coffee
This coffee recipe comes together in just 5 minutes!
- Add the oat milk and extra virgin olive oil to the milk frother.
- Meanwhile, place an espresso pod into your machine or make 1.5 oz of espresso with an espresso maker.
- Pour the frothed olive oil infused oat milk into the espresso. Stir (optional) and enjoy.
Sweeteners
You won’t find any sweeteners in an Oleato Caffe Latte at Starbucks but that doesn’t mean you can’t add sweetener at home. Vanilla syrup, maple syrup, hazelnut syrup, brown sugar, Stevia, honey and many other sweeteners are all nice flavor enhancers.
To Stir or Not to Stir a Latte?
You’ll find no consistency across coffee shops on whether a latte is stirred or not stirred. Some shops aim to mix in the foamy bubbles while other coffee shops prefer frothy bubbles that are separate from the espresso. Then there are also the shops that keep it separate just for the latte art.
For some, an unstirred latte leaves a dry, bitter taste while others prefer the frothy contrasting taste to the espresso. A stirred latte creates a more balanced, smooth taste but with less froth and contrast.
We tried Oleato Caffe Latte both stirred and unstirred and found that you could immediately taste the olive oil that had been steamed into the oat milk when not stirred. Our preference was stirred or blended as the olive oil had a more pleasant taste and wasn’t as overpowering.
Really it comes down to personal preference and depends on what you are going for. Might be good to try it both ways and do whatever tastes best to you!
Benefits of Olive Oil in Coffee
Adding any source of fat into coffee is nothing new and even adding olive oil into coffee is not new. Whether it’s heavy cream, butter, or ghee, adding fat into coffee has been around for a while. Olive oil has many of the same benefits but since it’s a superfood it has some benefits that other fats do not.
- Taste – The olive oil adds a slightly nutty flavor that complements the espresso roast and creamy taste of the oat milk.
- Health Benefits – Olive Oil is a superfood that is rich in healthy fats and antioxidants that aid in heart, digestive, skin and brain health plus it has anti-inflammatory properties.
- Weight Management – Healthy fats can help you feel full and satisfied and some studies say olive oil can boost your metabolism.
- Caffeine Absorption Slows – The fat from the olive oil lines the stomach and slows the absorption, allowing the body to take in the caffeine at a more moderate pace. This gives drinkers longer lasting energy and avoids an energy crash.
